PAINTINGS BY EMMY VERSCHOOR

VOOR EMMY

Voor Emmy

Zijn het pluimen of bladeren
die ontsnappen uit je binnenste hartkamer
of is het de gloed van de kleur van kloppend bloed
hunkerend naar de stilte van rimpelloos
Water?

Als haar handen vloeibaar worden
krijgt de piano vleugels op het doek
Een boom verbijt haar vergezicht
In de diepte luisteren wortels verrukt
naar de zachte braille van haar bestaan
Tuinen hangen van de wolken
omlaag, omhoog groeien vreemde bloemen
uit een ingebeelde notenbalk.

A ROOM NEAR THE OCEAN

Collaborative collage by Dominic De Clercq and GV, Belgium
Some comments on the legend how cold fish are, followed by the poem:

A ROOM

unread books piled high on the floor
sofas and chairs that smelled of
the salt scent of breaking waves
tented with yellowed sheets under
dust floating in what's left of sunlight
paled by a fractured window

outside a wind riffles the moors
a dog barks at something it sees
moving in the branches of an oak
then lies suddenly still for no reason
dreaming of a room identical to
all the others this room my room

the one that always stands
too near this engulfing ocean

MINA de WANGEL

The latest book production by poet and mail artist and close personal friend  Liza Leyla in Belgium is a translation in Dutch from a story by Stendhal that was published in the zine Revue des deux mondes.
Actual themes like passionate love versus reasonable love and even pascifism: is it right to go to war to impose regime change?
Publisher is Free Musketeers in the Netherlands, Internet publisher, this is Liza’s 4th book with them.

Cover illustration also by Liza.
